Drilling Rig Inspection Services

PURPOSE OF INSPECTION

  • Evaluation/Appraisal of equipment after accident (Insurance Claim etc)
  • Inspect equipment current condition for operational use (Purchasing used equip)
  • Appraisal for equipment at current market conditions (Value for Banks/Insurance)

An inspection is a visual survey of a structure or equipment and a basic performance evaluation of the systems and components of a drilling rig package. It provides information regarding the general condition of the drilling rig components at the time the inspection was conducted.

We offer on-site technical support service for drilling rig inspections and supervising repairs. We provide our customers with third party supervision that uses our industry experience to get the job done right. We have a specialty in helping international customers inspect and supervise the repair of drilling rigs and equipment from abroad. We have a long history in being an authority in drilling rig equipment evaluations.

RESPONSIBILITY OF THE INSPECTOR

Our experience uses the research and analyses that is necessary to develop credible opinions for the intended use, and sufficient information to allow the intended user to understand the inspection performed on the subject equipment.

RESPONSIBILTY OF THE CLIENT/END USER

Items identified as deficient using the 1-5 scale listed below in an inspection report DO NOT obligate any party to make repairs or take other actions, in the event that any further evaluations are needed, it is the responsibility of the client/end user to obtain further evaluations from qualified companies regarding any items reported as deficient.

INSPECTION REPORT LIMITATIONS

Please note that in consideration of any corroded areas that contain standing water, further inspection will be required to determine the extent of any damage in those areas. Also, it is not possible to completely determine the full extent of necessary repairs/replacements to the equipment and mast members until they are fully disassembled and analyzed during a shop/yard inspection. Many areas are not visible or accessible for visual or other testing means until those areas are exposed and reachable by an inspector. Evaluations performed by the inspector in response to items reported as deficient on the report may lead to the discovery of additional deficiencies that were not present, visible, or accessible at the time of the inspection. Any repairs made after the date of the inspection may render information contained in this report obsolete or invalid.

INSPECTION REPORT METHODS

Three methods of evaluation will be used for the inspection of the drilling rig package. The scope of this work includes the inspection of the subject rig package using descriptions, pictures and over 25 YEARS of experienced opinion.

1) The description of each component from on site and verbal discussions with any onsite personnel

2) Visual inspection with photos taken of each major component

3) Condition of each component based on the conditions as of the date during inspection.

The condition will be graded by using a scale of 1-5 for perspective. In total Twenty (20) major points of the rig will be inspected to be combined for an overall grade of the rigs condition.

– 5 = Excellent (Looks new and is in excellent mechanical condition)

– 4 = Very Good (Has minor cosmetic defects and is in excellent mechanical condition)

– 3 = Good (Has some repairable visual defects and is free of major mechanical problems)

– 2 = Fair (Has some repairable visual defects and requires some mechanical repairs)

– 1 = Deficient/Unacceptable (Incomplete, has defects, requires major repairs or complete replacement)
